Hair

This is not at all kid related. But I'll try to make it since that is what this blog is really about. Here goes, the twins are starting to grow more hair. Mainly in the back which is funny because they wake up and look all clean until they turn around... hello bed head! Slowly but surely we will be closer to our first hair cuts!

Mallory's party in the back.

Mason's party on the side?? Haha.

Hey, speaking of hair...(you see what I did there, wink wink) I recently got a new hair style and I love it! Fellow pinterest lovers, I actually found motivation there. I went a little dark with a reverse bob thingy. Here was the pin that motivated me for a change...

Now, my hair is not that long and I did more of an all over brown and blond, but I love how it turned out. It is in a subtle bob as well, just hard to see in a pic.

Of course with a new hairdo, I wanted to try new styling products. I had also come across this little gem on Pinterest and decided I would give it a try. I have incredibly thin, fine, frizzy hair that doesn't like to grow past my shoulders and air dries pretty much wavy/curly/frizzy. I always have to blow dry and straighten to style my hair. I used to "scrunch" my curls with hair gel but it looked gunky and wet and tangled. I read that this product could be used to help frizzy hair air dry better with a pretty wavy look or also used on wet hair before blow drying, making it smooth and full. Well, let me tell ya...

Sebastian Potion 9

It is awwwwwesome! I never ever ever in my life have been able to just blow dry my hair without using the straightener afterwards to calm my frizz, until now! And I even tried using it wet and letting it air dry and it left pretty curls with a slight glaze but not stiff. And the next morning before I washed it I couldn't even tell there was treatment in it! I think this will save my hair from so much heat! I am super thrilled about this pinterest success! But wait, it gets better...

For you budget friendly ladies out there, Sally's doesn't carry the brand name, but a generic version with the exact ingredients (I checked) of the Sebastian. That happened to be where I stopped in to purchase mine so I gave it a shot. Locally, Target did not carry the Sebastian and Albertson's had the 5.1 oz one (small) for $18.99!!! Holy cow. The generic one I purchased at Sally's for $6.59 and it's bigger! Give it a try and tell me what you think. If you can find it... I might have to go make a bulk purchase of this stuff! :)

(Disclaimer as I proofread: I use the word and a lot when I am rambling about something I am excited about. Sorry for that bit of annoying-ness...)

Happy hair styling!

Who knew...

When I purchased Mallory her "baby" stroller a few weeks ago, I never imagined the sheer entertainment it could bring me on a daily basis.

Who knew that this adorable little stroller/walker was such a versatile item for my daughters traveling pleasure. I mean why wouldn't you want to collect and push all of these random treasures around the house!! Who needs a baby to stroll around when you've got... Spoons???

Yep, she's a strange one my little Mallory Grace. But I love her to pieces!

Baby. Right after we got it and pretty much the only time she has actually let a baby ride in it, haha.

Hot wheels, matchbox cars, and wheelies.

Ellie belly - her lovie. Getting closer to its predetermined purpose...

A board book about colors and a sippy cup of water. Always need a good read and a thirst quencher while out for a stroll.

A baby rattle and one of her shoes. Please notice the fancy red bangle bracelet on her wrist. One must accessorize ones adorable cupcake jammies! She stops pushing every few seconds to admire her stellar sense of fashion. ;)

Her shoes, Bubba's shoes, and her crinkle taggy lovie thingy. Ok...

Baby spoons of course.

And my favorite... Her paci collection. (and a shot of her big pot belly!) Instead of a sock monster in our house, we have a paci monster. One day I'll hunt them all down and have like 8. The next day I am lucky if I can find 2! And it's no wonder. I feel like I am going to stumble upon a secret whole in the floor where she's buried collected all her pacifiers. Silly silly girl.

Sicklies

We have some funk in our house that has made this week pretty miserable. Both babies started getting runny noses about a week ago but I chalked it up to allergies. Then Monday they started coughing. Yesterday morning just flat out did us in. Mason woke up at 4:30 am screaming and crying and I assumed he was having trouble breathing even with the humidifier. He kept crying for about 30 min and finally threw up all over our bed. Dusty was up getting ready for work so helped me get clean linens down and get resettled. Mason was still fussy and discontent. Dusty left and shortly after Maser vomited again, all over the bed and me. You'd think I would have prepared better, but it was barely 6 am and I was tired and flustered. So, I started the bathtub and we both got cleaned up. He finally perked up and started laughing and playing in the tub. We got out and I was able to get more clean blankets down. We snuggled and went back to sleep about 7. Thankfully, Mal slept until almost 9 so Bubba and I could recover from an already eventful morning. I got Mas into the doctor that afternoon and turns out he has a double ear infection that is quite severe and painful, caused by the respiratory virus that he was already battling. He is such a trooper but I am so glad I took him in before it got worse. This is our first real illness so it has been heartbreaking to see him so uncomfortable. But now he's on meds and hopefully back to himself soon! Sister seems to be feeling good minus a little cough and congestion. Just hoping she doesn't get the ear junk too.

Maser in the waiting room at the pediatrician office. He was quite the social one. I think he thought we were there for a play date. ;)

My baby girl snuggling in Daddy's chair. She loves playing with the remote. :/

My little Maser man being such a tough guy while sick. And his crazy hair. Haha.

I am thankful that we have gone 15 months without any weeks like this. I am also thankful it is not worse. But I would be super happy if we go 15 more months without any sicklies in the house. Wishful thinking I am sure...

Not a fun way to spend it but, Happy 15 Months tweedle buggies!!

OYW

I was a little busy yesterday (see next post) so here is this weeks OYW! We were in Durango, CO for the week having so much fun with our new little family and Gamaw and Papaw. It was a great trip and we can't wait to go back!

Here are the cuties getting ready for lunch and shopping downtown. I loved these little matching sweaters. I ordered them before the kids were born and they ended up being perfect for our trip.

Our first family vacation picture!

The awesome kitchen in the awesome condo. The babies loved being up watching all the cooking action every night.

Sweet Mallory watching us cook and playing with her Durango moose Gamaw bought her.

Cuddle bugging with Daddy by the fire and the snowy mountains.

Such fun memories! Makes me ready to go on another big vacation with my little family!

Little Helpers

My little guys are such big helpers. We have fallen into a pretty consistent routine and Monday is work day. I wash and put away all the laundry, do dishes, some cleaning and anything else around the house. My goal is to get as much done early in the week so that we can just have fun the rest of the week.

The kids have taken a strong interest in what I do around the house. So things end up taking a little longer but it's sure fun to watch their curious little minds figure things out.

My big boy "sweeping". I am really going to have to buy him his own broom. He gets frustrated when he can't get that big thing to do exactly what he wants!

My sweet girl helping Mommy gather the trash, with the help of her stroller of course!

Laundry helper. He doesn't quite understand when I am trying to get him to move things from the washer to the dryer. He gets too distracted by opening and closing doors and also trying to get the barrel of the washer to spin.

Dishwasher girl. She loves to pull the drawers in and out and play with the flap door on the soap dispenser. Super helpful! ;)

Over the weekend Aunt Mami came to visit. We had not seen her since Thanksgiving so it was a long overdue visit. She got some quality time in with the babies. They have so much fun with her and I love getting to catch up on life as well. I did not get near enough pics of them together but we made fun memories anyway. Really ready for them to move closer!

We also got to spend some time with our great friends Landon and Cara and their sweet kiddos Laney and Kioton. Landon cooked a delicious dinner and the kids played with all the fun toys. We are grateful for their friendship and love their beautiful new house!

The best picture I could get of all the kids! :)

Kipton put his block bucket on his head so of course Mason saw and had to try!

Hope your weekend was blessed and your week is successful!

Happy Valentines Day!

I got to spend the day loving on my mini valentines and the evening on a date with my big valentine! We exchanged little gifts last night to show our love. Dusty was sneaky and had his aunt go get me a sweater from the Gap outlet in San Marcos that I regretted not getting when we were there shopping last month. I got another color but really wanted the pink one...and now I have it! Seriously, I had been bummed about it for a while. Pathetic, I know. But its a super cute neon pink zip hoodie with thumb holes. Thanks Aunt Sandy for making the trip for me and thanks to my great husband for making it happen. Haha! I got Dusty a sony docking station for his iphone so he can listen to pandora on his phone at work. I got it way on sale at Target and was super happy about that! The kiddos got movies. I really want to try to collect all the Disney and Pixar movies when they are out. Mason got Toy Story and Mallory got Cinderella. They also got sweet gifts and piggy bank money from Gamaw and Papaw as well as Granny. We don't really do much to celebrate but I will say that Valentine's Day is way more fun with the babies! I just love watching their eyes light up about the smallest things. Too sweet.

Hope you all had a love-filled day!!

A Little Bit of This...

And a little bit of that! Random-ness from our crazy lives!

Stinker...

Always hiding something in the blinds. But he's cute!

My handsome boy

My sweet baby girl

They are not the most cooperative picture takers. ;)

My baby swimsuit models. Ready for summer!

He seriously loves this basket strainer. He will go to the kitchen just to get it out of the cabinet and put it on his head.

I love HEB. They have double seat shopping carts. That's all I need!

Loving Mommy's Italian Green Beans
(1 can of french style green beans and 1 cup of italian dressing. Heat on stovetop. Delicious!!!)

Sister got new walking shoes. She says "so cuute" when we put them on her feet. Now if only she would actually walk in them! ;)

Bubba did his own hair. With his peanut butter...

Last weekend we made an impromptu trip to Lubbock to see our bestest friends. We took pictures of all 5 kids (age 5 and under mind you) in coordinating outfits. I can't wait to share them and will soon. And we all had a blast! Can't wait for the next trip!

And some videos that I just have to share.

Mallory and her walker. Pay special attention to how she sticks her booty out to turn. I think it is so hilarious!

And my sweet Maser dancing. I don't know what happened to the sound but it's still cute. And ignore the goldfish all over the floor. He decided to dump his snack bowl out. :)

Have a great week!
