Weekend Wrap Up

Another fun and much needed weekend in the books! Friday night we did some work clothes shopping with Daddy and then enjoyed a family date night at Abuelos. We have trained our kids well, they love Mexican food. Mallory finished a whole cheese enchilada and Mason ate his entire bean burrito. Add the mounds of rice and chips and salsa and you get two very happy little kids! I am so proud! Haha. (In case you missed it, Tex-mex is my favorite!)

On Saturday we went to the catholic schools annual fair that I grew up going to and helping work every year. I loved it as a kid and love it even more now with my kids.

Let me tell you what, this little girl was amazing. She wanted to do everything! She got a ring around the duck, got a ball in the can on skee ball, won prizes at the coin toss, fishing game, and basketball game, won a dollar at the lotto game, won a cake at the cake wheel, rode rides and had her hair spray painted and face painted! It was so fun watching her be so brave and excited. Thank you Honey and Poppy for doing so much with her. She is still talking about it!

Maser man was not feeling the fair quite as much. He was quiet and somber and didn't want to participate in much. He spent a lot of time in Gamaws arms. It usually takes him some time to warm up but he was unusually timid that morning. He finally got on some rides later in the afternoon but even then he was very serious about it. Although he did crack several smiles on the Ferris wheel and the carrousel. He told us later he had fun though so I call that a success!

I am already looking forward to next year!

After we ALL took naps, D took the monkeys out to Gamaw for a sleepover with cousins. This Mommy had the rest of the weekend "off". I wanted a quiet and lazy night in. D and I ordered in sushi, played card games, rented a movie, and took advantage of the laziness! It was great and a good refresher for us both. The kids of course had a blast and were exhausted when we got them back this evening.

Love getting some family time and Mommy time in one weekend! These are definitely my favorite! Now onto another week...

A Week

It has been quite a week. D was in Portland/Seattle starting last Thursday through Monday night for a friends 30th. I was so happy for him to go but it was a long rainy weekend with the kids. Things have not been too smooth here lately. Lots and lots of fighting. In the grand scheme of things we are all doing well, but we are definatley entering the threes quickly. Last Saturday I woke up with an awful headache that has been pretty consistent for a week now. Turns out to be just chronic sinus pain but between that and the fighting it has sure been a long week.

However, today and yesterday my headaches were much more minor and the kiddos actually got along for the most part. So we are looking forward to a fun weekend. That's where I have been and what we have been up to. These kids...

Slowin' It Down

The recent weather made for a perfect weekend to slow down, relax and enjoy some family time at home. So by golly that's what we did. I'm pretty sure my husband would say it was boring but it was certainly my kind of weekend. If only I had done a grocery run to cook up some delicious fall recipes beforehand! Oh well. Back to the weekend of nothing crazy...

Friday morning we had a breakfast play date with our favorite little girlies! Poor Mason. Mommy got so amped up about the "cool" weather that I put him in jeans and a long sleeve thermal shirt. An hour and a half of playing in the play area and he was drenched it sweat. My bad buddy.

Loved getting to chat and catch up with these girls Mommy! We laugh about how choppy our conversation is when we have the kids but it's always fun anyway.

And on a funny note, Mallory likes the show Paw Patrol and being the sponge she is picked up on the character in the show named Chickaletta. Apparently that's close enough to Chick-fil-a so you can guess what she calls it. Let's go have breakfast at Chickaletta! She's so goofy.

Later, I needed to do a Target run and wouldn't you know the flood gates opened as we were leaving. The kids thought it was so fun so we ran and squealed and made the best of getting soaked! (When you live in a major drought area these moments are rare treats!)

Friday night we had no plans and no groceries so we decided to do date nights with the kids. It was my turn with Mal again so we headed to Chilis. It was great getting to spend some one on one time with my girl and Daddy had fun with Bubba.

Saturday we started the rainy day with some homemade pigs in a blanket (that I happened to have ingredients on hand for, score) and some playtime around the house. Then we watched the disappointing Texas Tech game under the heater out on the patio. We enjoyed cheering them on even though we lost.

My dear loving sister brought us dinner that night and we got to love on baby Hud for a few minutes. Mason was especially into him! Thanks again Mami!

Today we worked on planning an upcoming trip, played, and I spent the evening cleaning all 4 bathrooms! After all that laziness, I had to do something productive. It only took me almost 3 hours. (I don't recommend buying a house with 4 potties! Ha!)

Little Girl, Big Personality

We knew from our first few weeks with Mallory in our life that she was going to be FULL of personality. She was a high maintenance baby with little quirks and obsessions. She carried over some of those obsessions into toddlerhood and, my my, has her personality continued to grow with her age and developing vocabulary.

We call Mal "Sister" at home. It is just something that stuck when we started referring to the kids as Sister and Bubba in reference to each other. So she often refers to herself as "sister". The other day my Mom made a comment about Mallory going to these new places and not even knowing what to tell people her name is. She gets shy with new people and usually just doesn't answer. So I thought I would test it out and said "Mallory, what is your name?" She stopped, looked at me, pointed her finger to her chest and said " dis Princess".

I can't think of a better description of our daughter! She is convinced she's royalty living in her own little world most of the time and doing things her little way. I love her confidence, her spunky spirit, her ability to make me laugh when I need it the most, and her ability to love everyone and everything around her. I look forward to watching this little spitfire grow into a beautiful young girl and treasuring the sweet memories she brings our family everyday!
