Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

What a special weekend we had. A few weeks ago my best friend Lacye and I were invited by a local photographer to bring our girls for a photoshoot as part of a fun little girls clothing group we are a part of. We both jumped at the chance to let our ladies "model" and since it was here, Lace and her sweet Harper decided to come and make a girls weekend of it! I immediately told D he and Mason were being kicked out for the weekend, haha. This was our first opportunity to get together as just the girls of our two families and it was too fun! Don't get me wrong, we love our boys but shopping and pedicures ARE our thing. Not so much our husbands or sons!

So we kicked Friday off with some lunch at our house and an afternoon of swimming at Honey and Poppy's! (Thanks again Mom & Dad!)

The girls were absolute dolls in their swimsuits, glasses, and pigtails!

We even got some time to chat and lounge while the blondies swam and played!

After swimming we squeezed in some shopping and a yummy dinner at Abuelos. Since the girls didn't nap we headed home for a quiet night. Us Moms attempted to watch a movie but were too busy talking to even finish it! (No surprise there!)

Saturday we slept in a bit and went for an early lunch and some shopping at the mall. Lacye bought the girls these matching outfits with their names on them and they were so perfect for our day out!

Then we went for our pedis and manis. Harper Grace was not feeling like having hers done but was a patient girl so her Mommy could get hers.

Mallory picked out her pink and blue colors (I give her free reign here, I love seeing what she picks and it's usually quite fitting for her personality) and sat while the man painted her fingernails and toenails! He even added a little white design and she loves them.

We had to head home for some downtime and a snack before our photoshoot. Then we loaded our little models up and met the ladies for our photoshoot! I cannot wait to see the pics. The girls did soooooo so good!

After the shoot we attempted to go to Chilis for dinner but it was too long of a wait, and soon after my dear daughter decided to go into meltdown mode. So a Taco Villa stop and another early(ish) night for the girls was in order! And once again Lace and I stayed up way too late talking!

Sunday we slept late, called in breakfast and just let the girls play. By then they were having so much fun together that we could have let them play all day! So neat to see their friendship developing already! This made our goodbyes much harder!

Lacye, thank you again for such a memorable weekend! I hate that we don't live closer but love how special our time is together when we have these rare opportunities! Mal and I loved spending time with you and baby girl! Let's make this an annual event!!

And, because these little updates were just too cute, Mason had a blast with Daddy visiting Popo in Fredericksburg! D sent me many pictures and said he was a fun and sweet boy for their boys trip! He got to play in mud, ride the four wheeler (pretty much all he wanted to do), and eat a lot! Sounds like a good manly weekend to me. Plus, he had all his Daddy's attention to himself. So I'm pretty sure sure it was probably the best weekend for him!

Girl In Her Own World

I wish you could be a fly on my wall for just one day and see the hilarity that is my daughter. She is a character in her own right and a comedian without even trying.

She wanted to wear her baby.

She continues to say sometimes witty and otherwise off the wall things that make us giggle and throw our heads in our hands at the same time.

On Sunday I woke up to find her in only undies with a pink sock on her right foot, a purple sock on her left foot, dress up heel shoes over both, and a corresponding pink and purple sock on each hand. Yes, hand. In this attire, she is merrily walking around the house pushing her "stroller" which holds one baby buried with "all da stuff" aka various items from the playroom aka crap! As she sings, "cweanin it up, cweanin it up, put it away, put it away, put da tangs awaaaaayyy!"

Although her dramatic nature can often outweigh her free spirit, I try to treasure those moments where she expresses genuine joy and zest for life, with an innocence that only kids truly posess.

"You cwean my pwayroom Mommy? It's so pwetty! Dats so sweet for me Mommy!"

"I wuv you Mommy cause your my fwiend!"

One of her latest obsessions has become the desire to wear 2 different shoes. Everywhere. One boot and one dress up "pwincess" shoe? Sure dear. Why not? One of Bubba's (too big) flip flops and one of your old (too small) flip flops? Yes, makes total sense to wear those sister.

"Mommy, I need to watch TV for just one more minute? Just one wittle bitty minute Mommy. Pwetty, pwetty pwease?"

"Mason Awan Burger! Be nice for me!"

This is a picture of all the "treasures" I unloaded from the stroller, her dance bag, a backpack, a canvas bag, and two purses last night. It took me an hour to sort through and return to their original homes in the playroom. I told D this is how my conversation with her will go when she wakes up. Mallory, twirling around the playroom "you cwean in here Mommy? You do dat? It's so pwetty in here, tank you Mommy!" Mallory picking up her once full backpack, "Mommy, don't do dat to all my stuff! I need all da tangs in my packpack! Why you do dat Mommy!?" with a pouty face and fake tears.

Yep, she's as sweet, funny, and dramatic as they come! Bless her little heart.

Last Day of School

Today was the buggies last day at parents day out for this school year! I cannot explain how much of a blessing the last 3 months at our new program have been. The teachers truly love my kids. The directors strive to make it one of the most fun, parent involved, Christ centered learning environments that they possibly can. I am, again, so very thankful that the Lord answered my prayers when I was stressing about the kids old school. Although we still have lots of challenges to work through with my 2 strong willed 3.5 year olds, I really feel like the staff is on my team in helping us prepare these monkeys for school.

One of my favorite memories from this school year...

One of their scriptures and lessons was about the fruit of the Spirit. They made necklaces out of fruit loops. When I went to pick them up Miss April said, "I'm not really sure what happened here."

They have learned a lot about Jesus, family, friends, taking care of others, and of course all the preschool basics!

Today for their last day they had "fun day" with blow up jumpers set up in the church's main foyer, bubble and chalk stations, face painting and a movie. miss Ashley sent me a few pictures of the kids.

So now we are officially on summer break! Looking forward to lots of swimming, library trips, movies, and jammie days!

Recital and Birthday Weekend

What a fantastic weekend we had. Saturday was Mallorys first dance recital! We had sure been looking forward to watching her on stage. I was a bit nervous about how she would do because she's been a little timid at dance classes lately. 

We woke up and started getting ready for the big day! She loves getting to put makeup on and getting her hair fixed. I'll say "ok, all finished" and she replies "I so pretty, thank you Mommy!" Hehe.

I am so glad to report that she was amazing at recital. She had fun and loved being on stage. When she first walked out she did not go to her spot (marked by colored tape on the stage) so she ended up way in the back behind another girl and we couldn't see her! We were freaking out but finally someone backstage called her and told her to get on her tape and she did. Bless her heart. It's always a little confusing when you're not in the studio! And their music came on too quickly so they felt rushed to start dancing before they had got to their spots. Once we could see her she was so flipping cute! She shook her shoulders and did her turns. She kissed and admired herself in her little mirror she was dancing with. It was hilarious and made me cry at the same time. I loved it! I spent my childhood dancing and much of my young adult life teaching dance so of course I hope she sticks with it for many years to come! If not, I'll sure treasure this sweet year she spent as my little ballerina!

Mallory had tons of people there to watch and support her. And bring her beautiful flowers of course! Thank you to everyone who came. She sure enjoyed the love and attention!

After recital we went home for naps and then that evening all our family came over to celebrate both mine and my mother in laws birthday! We had dinner, played outside and played games. It was great! Papaw bought us a birthday cake and also bought Mallory a cake to celebrate her recital! It was very sweet!

Sunday I slept in a little but when I got up Mal was complaining that she didn't feel good. She ended up throwing up 5 times. She never ran fever and was all better when she woke up the next morning. I think she might have accidentally drank her milk from the night before when she got up and it just upset her tummy. It was really weird. I felt bad for her but I'm not going to lie, I cannot remember the last time Mallory fell asleep on me! So I sure loved this little cat nap!

One more activity done for the year and just creeping closer to a lazy summer! Yay! Have a good week friends!

Little Baseball Boy

Mason officially ended his t-ball season last week. I think it's safe to say he loves it and we will be playing next year! He improved in most areas and not so much in some, but he's only 3 so we have plenty of time to work on his skills.

He got his first trophy and this made him very happy! It's now proudly displayed in his room. We made some new little friends on our team and hope to be seeing these boys next season too!

Happy Mother's Day 2015

It was a great Mother's Day weekend! 

Thursday I joined the kids at school for Tea with Mom. I love their school and that they do something special to celebrate!

Their teachers helped them make these sweet sweet gifts for me! 

I was able to get away Friday night for a girls night with my sister and a sweet girlfriend. We enjoyed delicious wine, dinner, and lots of catching up!

Saturday we had a fun family day. D had heard about an open house at a local veterinarian and they had lots of fun animals there to see. 

Sunday morning I awoke to my monkeys bringing me my homemade Mother's Day cards and gifts. They did so good picking my charms this year!

Later we went out to Gamaw and Papaws for lunch and Honey and Poppys for swimming and dinner. And to celebrate those 2 special Moms in our lives!

I love these babies that made me a Mommy! I love spending my day with them and hearing how much they love me.

And, these have to be my favorite part of my Mother's Day this year...
