Five On Friday

Decorating

I am enjoying finding new decorations and projects for the new house! Now if only I had an endless supply of money to finish it all. Ha. I have a list on my iPad called "to buy". My husband is gonna kill me before it's finished! :) Yay for finally getting a breakfast nook table and filling the one big whole in the house! Now this is one of my favorite rooms!

Shoes

Mal has completely outgrown all of her shoes all the sudden. Now we have two pairs of shoes that fit, both sandals, so looks like I need to do some shoe shopping. But sisters foot is soooooo fat! Everything is so tight on her feet so I am just not sure what to order. And she won't let me try shoes on her. She either says "no" because she doesn't like them or freaks out when I try to take them back off. And I can't even talk about boots. I was looking forward to so many of her outfits with boots and she flips if I try to put one on her. Bummer. Mason has several pairs of shoes that fit from my friend Lacye's boys. (Thank you again sweet friend!) He also has a nice average foot. But I'm thinking about getting him another pair of Toms cordones because they are my absolute fave and he outgrew them too fast! Anybody have any recommendations for my fatty foot little princess??

Big Boy Room

I have been busy planning the kids rooms because currently they are the least favorite rooms in the house. They are just boring and I am excited to get them started. Now just to find the time! ;) I am in love with the airplane theme for my little man. He has been fascinated with them and picks all the airplanes out of his car bucket!

Big Girl Room

I want a princess hideaway for Mal Mal and am looking forward to piecing it together. Lots of pink and girly... Fit for a princess of course!

Wreaths

I am having a wreath making party to kick of the holiday season with a few girlfriends next week. I am so excited not only for some craft fun but just fellowship with a good group of talented ladies. Can't wait to laugh and to see what all we come up with. The above are just ideas I found but boy, I can't wait until I've perfected the art well enough to be that good!!

On a side note from all my meaningless ramblings. I have a dear friend who could use some prayers right now. She's been in need of some good news for a long time now and she is very close to her moment. So if you would throw up a bit of an unspoken prayer for her I would sure appreciate it!

I miss these baby days!

Hemangioma

I haven't addressed this because it's just normal to us and nothing serious but you might have noticed in some pictures of Mal a spot on the back of her right leg. She refers to this as her boo boo and so does Mason. But really it's called a hemangioma, sometimes also known as a strawberry. It's a type of birth mark that usually appears in the first 2 weeks of life and normally clots off and disappears by the age of 5.

Mal's showed up the day she was discharged from the NICU. They are more common on the face, neck, scalp or back so her pediatrician was quite surprised by it but assured us it's nothing to be concerned about. They actually don't know what causes this dense collection of blood vessels but risk factors include white infants, girls, preemies, and twins. So yes, Mallory was pretty much destined to get one. It doesn't bother her and she rarely ever notices it is there. We are grateful that it is nothing serious and also that it's located where it is so she isn't tempted to mess with it all the time. Just thought I would share a unique fact about my girl!

Project Pinterest

I was able to complete my first Pinterest project since moving into the new house. I just wanted to do something simple and inexpensive to start with. I came across this pin last week and just loved it!

I had two hurricanes sitting in the dining room empty that I was planning on filling with something decorative. I had candles in them at the old house but wanted to do something more exciting with them. So when I saw the pin I knew I had to do it! I went with smaller pears because I liked the color of them better for my room but I absolutely love how it turned out! 

How did people decorate or be crafty before Pinterest??? Ha! Looking forward to many more fun projects for the new house!

Weekend Wrap Up

Another fun weekend in the books! We had nothing special planned but ended up packing it full of fun memories. We didn't do much on Friday besides Mason's big haircut. Saturday we had a few friends over for the Tech game. I fixed sausage cheese dip (yummo) and we just hung out and enjoyed a Red Raider victory!

After a late nap we had several more friends over for pizza and fellowship. It was a house full of kids and a little crazy, but everyone had fun. We are so thankful for our new house because we really do love entertaining and are happy to now have the space to!

I took the big girls to my scarf collection (31 of them to choose from) to play dress up. They had fun and looked so fabulous!

Today our family of four enjoyed some bonding time together. We started the day with a bath since it had been a couple of busy nights without our normal bathtime session. Then we enjoyed the beautiful weather outside. And of course we watched our Denver Broncos enjoy an exciting win over the Cowgirls.

After the game we had a little fall fun with pumpkin carving and pumpkin coloring! My husband has been looking forward to doing a pumpkin for the kiddos this fall and the weather was just too perfect for such an event this evening. He went and shopped for the perfect big pumpkin and two baby pumpkins so the kids could each have their own to decorate. They were a little grossed out by all the seeds and goo inside the big pumpkin but boy did they have some fun with the markers on their baby pumpkins. And on other things, haha...

Big Boy Haircut

Well, yesterday we reached another milestone. Mason had his first haircut! I loved him with the shaggy hair look, but his hair is too thin so most of the time it just looked all crazy, especially in the back.

I was so nervous because I really thought he was going to freak out. And he did. For a good five minutes I was ready to give up and walk out. He completely panicked. But Dusty was finally able to get him settled in his lap. No luck getting him to wear the cape though. For some reason that scared him the most!

I gave him a grape sucker and he entertained himself pretty well with that. He looks so much older but definitely more clean cut and quite handsome!

Smooth Criminal

On Friday I had to do a quick grocery run to get a few things for dinner that evening so after nap the buggies and I loaded up and ran into HEB.

All went well in our 30 minute adventure and as we were walking through the parking lot to my car Mallory began to grunt "uhhh, ehhhhh" as though she was straining to reach something. Her hand stretched out to the ground behind me. I glance down and see a green trident package with just a couple of unwrapped pieces of gum inside. I think to myself, wow, she is very observant. I turn back to her seated in the shopping cart to tell her "no, you don't need that, that's yucky". Before I can say anything I see her little hands folded against her belly FULL of tiny unwrapped pieces of watermelon trident!

Ya'll, at the ripe age of 22 months old my daughter is a thief! Apparently as I filled the belt at the checkout full of groceries, my innocent angel of a child was browsing the gum and candy selection and settled on a pack of watermelon trident. She has no clue what gum is but she does love her some watermelon so her choice was not surprising really. The crime, yeah that shocked me. I half giggled and half ran to the car like they were going to come any minute to tackle us and put us in handcuffs.

We had a "talk"on the way home about stealing. I pray every night that I will never have to have that conversation with her again. Never a dull moment guys. :)
